Ngamba Island
Ngamba Island is the largest chimpanzee sanctuary in Uganda. It offers two major chimpanzee experiences; the full day chimpanzee experience and a half-day chimpanzee experience. When you visit the Island, you will get an opportunity to learn in detail the lifestyle of chimpanzees and how they are related to humans.
On your journey to the Island, you will cross the Equator on Lake Victoria, see a number of bird species on the floating water vegetation. Community tours around Ngamba Island as also at your disposal. Ngamba Island offers overnight accommodation and the best sights of the milky way in the middle of the night. Ngamba Island is also an inception point for sport fishing on Lake Victoria.
Uganda wildlife conservation education Center
Uganda wildlife conservation education center (Former Entebbe Zoo) is the oldest wildlife sanctuary in Entebbe. It hosts a number of wildlife species indigenous to Uganda including but not limited to; cheetahs, chimpanzees, Baboons, Buffaloes, Elephants, Giraffes, Impalas, water-bucks among several other wildlife species.
The place also has a restaurant, beach, apartments, and cottages. It should be noted that when you check-in for accommodation in the Uganda wildlife conservation education center, you will not be required to pay entrance fees to the center. The forest at the Uganda wildlife conservation education center is also used for studies.
Entebbe Reptile Village
Entebbe Reptile Village is the only place in Uganda whose sole purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate and reintroduce reptiles in Uganda. Though some of its conservation coincide with those of Uganda wildlife conservation education center Entebbe, Entebbe reptile villages specialize in reptiles.
Reptiles at Entebbe Reptile Village include; Egyptian Cobra, Forest Cobra, Black Mamba, African rock python, Gabon viper, puffadder, Chameleons, Crocodiles, monitor lizards among several other indigenous wildlife species in Uganda. During the dry season, the center has a playground for children.
Craft Shops
Entebbe has a number of craft shops, some are found along the main road offering a special opportunity to buy souvenirs. These include African art, African crafts among several other traditional items that tell the Uganda story.
Crafts shops can equally be found at Ngamba Island and Entebbe wildlife conservation education center. There are also craft shops along Lugard avenue in Entebbe.
